The popular ridesharing service Uber has drawn the ire of Las Vegas taxi companies after they posted an advertisement online looking for drivers.

Bill Shranko, an executive at Yellow Checker Star has asked the Nevada Taxicab Authority to warn Uber about the fines their drivers face for operating an unlicensed cab. A spokeswoman for the Nevada Taxicab Authority responded, stating that ridesharing companies such as Uber would be required to comply with existing regulations in order to operate within Las Vegas.

Uber is a technology company that allows potential customers to call for a cab using their smartphone app. Drivers are usually residents of the city who use their own car as their cab in order to make some money on the side picking up passengers part-time.

Uber Spokeswoman Lane Kasselman has stated that users of the app have requested that the company expand into Las Vegas, however the company has no official plans to do so in the near future.
